Draftkings Vs AlphaDraft

October 21, 2015 by Esports Online

Two of the biggest fantasy esports sites are Draftkings and Alphadraft and many players are trying to decide where to play their bankroll.  We have set-up a direct esports comparison between the two sites to help you spot any differences or advantages that may make you lean to one site or the other.  We really can’t declare an ultimate winner because it so subjective to each individual preferences, but the information provided in this article will help guide you in making a decision on where to play.

It’s important to note that AlphaDraft was bought by FanDuel in the fall of 2015 after DraftKings started their own eSports contests on their main site. FanDuel has decided to keep its Alphadraft eSports platform separate from their main Daily Fantasy Sports website.

If you are looking for a full review of each site you can read them here:

Esports Contests

As far as what games are available to play at each site Alphadraft is the go-to site for hardcore esports players.  They have the most popular fantasy esports games available for real money play, the 3 most popular being League of Legends, Counterstrike and Dota2.  Right now Draftkings just has fantasy League of Legends contests available but we can see them adding more games in the future if LOL proves to be popular among players.

Types of Contest Formats at Each Site

Draftkings

  • Guaranteed Prize Pools
  • Tournaments
  • Head to Head
  • Double Ups, 50/50
  • Multipliers
  • Satellites

Alphadraft

  • Winner Take All

Both AlphaDraft and DraftKings offer freeroll contests for their Esports games. Between the two of them Draftkings by far will have the bigger freeroll prize pools so that’s something to consider if you don’t wanna play for real money of the bat.  Overall Draftkings is the larger site and will also have the biggest real money prize pools for LOL with total prizes of $10,000 or more.

Who’s the best site for Esports?

It’s a tough call if you are looking for an outright winner between the two. Alpha Draft was one of the original Daily Fantasy eSports sites and now with the financial backing of FanDuel they will be able to focus solely on improving their esports product. If you are talking strictly esports and you are a dedicated fantasy esports player only, then you would obviously lean towards Alphadraft because of the multiple games available and the fact that it is a dedicated esports site.  That being said if you play mostly League of Legends contests then Draftkings would certainly be on top due to their larger prize pools.  With Draftkings, it’s nice to be able to play other daily fantasy sports as well but they need to add more esports games down the road if they want to appeal to hardcore esports gamers. The truth is both have advantages and disadvantages to them and it’s best to play contests at both to see which one fits your style.

Don’t Forget:
