Quick DraftPot Review Points

What’s Great About Draftpot

  • Offers a no Salary Cap format
  • Lot’s of freeroll contests
  • Guaranteed Prize Pools for almost every contest

What Draftpot Could Improve

  • Only offer League of Legends currently for Esports
  • Lack of live Twitch Feed
  • Bigger Esports Prize Pools

Draftpot Games and Contests

At the time of this review, only fantasy League of Legends games are available to play for eSports. However,  they have informed us that they will be adding new games in the future such as Call of Duty (CoD) and DOTA2 so look for that email to let you know when they have expanded their eSports offerings when you join.

Draftpot Sports

You can play fantasy League of Legends (LOL) in the following game formats at Draftpot:

  • Fan Mode – Fan Mode allows you to pick players with no Salary Cap, choose anyone you like for your team
  • GM Mode – GM Mode has a salary cap to abide by much like traditiontial daily fantasy sites

When choosing which Esports contest to play in you will find the following contest types available:

  • Double up Contests – half of the entries double their cash
  • GPP’s – Guaranteed Prize Pools offer a grand prize and various secondary prizes
  • Freerolls – Free contest to play for real cash! Build you bankroll to play in bigger contests
  • Head to Head – Play against either a friend or a complete stranger – Choose an entry fee and winner takes all!

Game entries run from free fantasy games all the way up to $1,075 for an entry fee. The majority of games are in the $5 – $50 range and they always have enough fantasy contests to choose from. Being a newer site, DraftPot offers a lot of freeroll eSports contests and during October when the League of Legends Championships are going on, they offer a full slate of LOL contests every day.

Draftpot Lobby Design

Draftpot Lobby

The DraftPot contests lobby takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you have played previously at other daily fantasy sites. Games are set up like tiles and you click on the game you want to play to get into the draft screen. At the top are tabs to help you narrow down contests by sport and given that DraftPot offers a ton of other daily fantasy sports, if you are strictly playing eSports you’ll want to click the tab at the top for LoL.

On the left of the lobby, you can narrow games down further by type of game you want to play, entry fee and type of contest. Overall, Drafpot has a great contest filter setup allowing for quick streamlining of the lobby to help you select the game you want to play in quicker.

LOL Game Rules and Scoring System

Like we mentioned before, currently players can only play in League of Legends for Esports contests.  Here is the general rules and scoring system for DraftPot’s LOL contests:

LOL Rules

  • All of Draftpots LOL contests are in Fan Mode so there is no salary cap to worry about.  You can choose any player you would like for your team.
  • Players to Draft – 7 (TOP, JNG (Jungler), MID, ADC, SUP (Support), UTIL, UTIL)

Scoring System

Your drafted players earn points based on the following scoring criteria:

  • Kills +2 points
  • Assists +5 points
  • Creeps +.02 points
  • Deaths -1 point

DraftPot’s League of Legends scoring is very simplified and thus makes it a little easier for the beginner player. There are only 4 categories to score points in which is less than other traditional eSports sites. A lot less strategy goes into making player picks based on limited scoring options but you should still do your homework before drafting your team.

Draftpot Draft Screen and Live Scoring

Drafting a League of Legends lineup is quick and easy. If you are playing in Fan Mode you can simply pick all the players you want and click submit to set your team up. Each player has a headshot and stats to help you do some research as to who you should pick for your lineup. If you are playing in GM mode which uses a salary cap format, some more thought will have to go into your picks. Both options are great, it just depends on your preference.

Live Scoring Feed

Where DraftPot lacks is in their live scoring and lack of a live feed. Most other daily fantasy sites that offer Esports have a live feed to watch all the action and follow along with live scoring. DraftPot is definitely lacking in this area and needs to add a live feed in order to truly give Esports fans the full fantasy sports experience. We love DraftPot for other sports like Fantasy Football or Fantasy Basketball, but if they are going to continue to grow their eSports product, they should consider having games streamed live. It’s not a deal breaker if you like how games are played at DraftPot, there’s nothing keeping you from opening up Twitch in a new window to follow the action, but some LoL players may not enjoy the extra hassle and therefore not play.

Draftpot Deposits and Withdrawals

You can deposit money into your DraftPot account using the following methods:

  • Visa, Mastercard, Discover
  • PayPal

The minimum deposit is $10 and the max is $1000.  Don’t forget you can use DraftPot Promo Code DPBONUS to take full advantage of the first time deposit bonus.

To withdraw your winnings from DraftPot you can use the following method:

  • PayPal – Withdrawals are made solely through PayPal and are almost instantaneously in your account after you click the “Withdraw” button.

Who Can’t Play at Draftpot

You need to be 18 years of age to play at DraftPot (19 in Alabama and Nebraska). Currently, some states in the US have laws and legislation that don’t allow Daily Fantasy eSports. Legislation is pending in all of the following states:

  • Arizona
  • Iowa
  • Louisiana
  • Montana
  • Washington

If you reside in any of the above states unfortunately as of right now you can not participate in fantasy sports at Draftpot.

Our Drafpot Ranking

We rank Draftpot a 3 out of 5 star site for playing daily fantasy eSports. Although we like the site, not having a live feed like the competition does makes you feel like you have to switch back and forth from their site to somewhere that the games are being streamed live online. If you are a hardcore League of Legends player, their simplistic scoring system might bore you as you might find some of the advanced strategy is eliminated. However, on the flip side having a simple scoring system makes it easier to draft a lineup without having to spend hours of research and can make it more enjoyable for the casual player.

Their prize pools are a decent size for a newer site and there are plenty of games to choose from. We look forward to the introduction of more games like Call of Duty (CoD) and DOTA 2 and hope that we can update this DraftPot review with a higher ranking in the near future.
