CS:GO stands for Counter Strike: Global Offensive and is a first person shooter esports game. It is one of the most popular multiplayer games and lends itself perfectly for fantasy esports contests.
The game CS:GO consists of two teams of five players going head to head in a competitive mode battle. One team is considered the “Terrorists” and the other the “Counter Terrorists”. The terrorist team has tasks such as setting a bomb or capturing hostages while of course the counter terrorists must do anything they can to stop this from happening. Ultimately, you must eliminate all players from the other team per round to declare victory.

How To Draft A Team
After you join a site and enter a contest you will enter the draft screen. Here is where you see all the eligible real life CS:GO teams with their players playing that day. You can draft players from any team and in total you must draft 6 CS:GO players. The max you can draft from any 1 team is 3 players and you must draft players from at least 2 different games that day. So you can’t just take players as from 1 game, for example Cloud 9 is facing Team Liquid. You can’t take 3 players from Cloud 9 and 3 from Team Liquid, you would have to include at least 1 player from another matchup that day.
DraftKings and Fanduel’s main contest format for CS:GO is a salary cap contest. In the salary cap format you create a fantasy lineup by selecting CS:GO players who have an assigned salary given to them. The better the player the higher the salary will be. The catch is you also are given a total salary cap that you can not exceed in order to have a valid lineup. So the key is to find the right balance of high-end players and good value plays in order to stay under your salary cap. The salaries of each player change each slate and are adjusted based on current play for their esports teams.
One other caveat is you must assign 1 player to be the Captain of your team (On FanDuel they call it the MVP). This player will get 1.5x his points as compared to the other players. This is a crucial thing to keep in mind and you want to draft players who have the best ceilings in this position. If you are still learning the ins and outs of Fantasy CSGO then a safe strategy is to just draft the best player on a given in team in your captain position.

If you are not into salary cap formats, Draftkings has an alternative form of League of Legends fantasy contests. These contests are called “Tiers” and resemble an office pool type game. Esports players are divided into groups and your job is to take 1 player from each group to make up your team. The tiers are comprised of likewise skill levels which makes it a tough challenge to draft the right players. But if your LOL knowledge is above par you can find a big edge for yourself in these contests.
CS:GO Scoring
In order to win some money your fantasy team is going to have to score some points and if you want to win the top prize, then your team needs to score the most points in the contest. So how does scoring work, let’s take a look at DraftKings CS:GO scoring rules as they are the most popular site to play at and Fanduel is very similar.
