Vulcun vs Alphadraft

November 12, 2015 by Esports Online

Top eSports sites Vulcun and AlphaDraft are the pioneers in the daily fantasy eSports industry. When you have two high-level sites such as them the inevitable question always gets asked – Vulcun or Alphadraft, which one is better? Of course, the ultimate answer is very subjective to your own personal preferences but we will try and help make your decision easier in the battle between Vulcun and Alphadraft.

Below we break down the differences between both sites and highlight some of the key features that separate them apart from each other.

If you want to read full site reviews for each, check out our AlphaDraft Review and Vulcun Review.

When looking at the first time deposit bonus between both sites it’s kinda like comparing apples and oranges because each is offering something totally different from the other.  At Alphadraft, you get a straight up 100% cash bonus match up to $1000.  So if you deposit $500 they will give you $500 in bonus money at a 4% release rate per real money contest played.

To get the Alphadraft bonus you do not need a promo code, you can use our bonus links to claim.

Vulcun goes in an opposite direction offering you $5000 worth of gold currency plus 15 Extra loot crates at their site. Gold currency at Vulcun is virtual cash that can be used to make live in-play bets on esports competitions and to purchase various items on the site. They also give you loot crates which are virtual boxes that you open that can contain virtual items such as weapons for games,  Vulcun keys and much more.  As an extra bonus with our Vulcun promo code they will also do a 100% gold match on any gold you purchase directly from them.

Esports Games and Contests

Both sites offer very similar games and both have the most popular, that being League of Legends, DOTA2 and Counter-Strike: Go.  The only difference between game offerings is that Vulcun has Call of Duty and no Smite, while Alphadraft has Smite but no Call of Duty.  So if you are a big fan of either of those 2 esports games then that might sway you one way or the other.

Vulcun and Alphadraft both use a salary cap system for their fantasy contests, at Vulcun the total cap is set at $10,000 while Alphadraft has a total cap of $50,000.

Here are the different contest format types for each site:

Vulcun

  • Tournament
  • Head to Head
  • Winner Takes All
  • 50 /50
  • In-Game Gold Betting

Vulcun Gold Betting

Alphadraft

  • Tournament
  • 50/50
  • Boosters
  • Winner Takes All

As you can see Vulcun has a few more options for format type and their in-game betting is a real unique twist that you won’t find anywhere else.

Prize Pools

I would say both sites are in the very early stages of offering huge prize pools for their tournament games. They are definitely not on the same level of daily fantasy sports yet where you can see prize pools in the millions. The sites are very similar in their daily prize pool offerings, for example, these were the highest “tournament” prize pools at the time of this comparison:

Vulcun – $640 total prize pool with an entry fee of $10

AlphaDraft – $180 total prize pool with an entry fee of $25

So Vulcun does have a slight edge in prize pools at the moment but this has the potential to change quickly based on any new investments that might come into each company.  We will update this comparison when any major changes take place.

AlphaDraft Lobby

An important feature to make note of is at Alphadraft they guarantee any prize pool $50 and over for their multi-enter tournaments.  That is a great feature for the player, no matter how many entries a contest has it will always run if the total prizes are over $50.  Potential for nice overlays at Alphadraft which is an advantage to the user.  Multi-enter contests means you can enter a team more than once.

Vulcun Esports Advantages

  • Gold Currency Program great for beginner players to earn real money for free

  • You can watch live games even without entering a contest

Alphadraft Esports Advantages

  • Guaranteed prize pools over $50
  • Owned by Fanduel who revolutionized the DFS industry
  • Cash Deposit Bonus

The Best Site For Fantasy Esports

This is going to be a tough call for players because both sites are great to play at. With FanDuel buying AlphaDraft in 2015, there is an assumption that they will have more money behind them and could potentially spend faster on user acquisition and, therefore, have big prize pools much like we see on Fanduel already. That being said, Vulcun has a strong esports platform and also has big time investors behind them such as Yahoo, Google Ventures, and Zynga. It’s safe to say they aren’t about to cave in to any competition anytime soon.

Beginner players may lean more towards Vulcun because of the simplicity of the site and the free games you can play with gold currency. Hardcore eSports players may find the lack of live scoring at Vulcun a slight drawback. We find Alphadraft has an edge in their drafting process and stats offered. Both sites offer live game feeds through Twitch so you can follow along all the action. Each site offers something different than the other so you are going to have decide what the most important factors are to you? Like a cash bonus? Then Alphadraft is for you. Like free items for your favorite games? Then Vulcun is the way to go. We simply play at both so we don’t have to choose, they are great sites that will only continue to expand and get better.
